Why do you add mental health (hope@work) to your culture work?
My inspiration has come from daughter Haley’s journey with her mental health. Sharing in her experiences as she navigated a university and employment led me to the realization that there is a tremendous gap in organizational awareness and understanding around mental illness that must be addressed.
Today I volunteer on the Board of Directors for New Hampshire Family Network, a program of the National Alliance On Mental Illness in New Hampshire. In response to COVID-19, I co-facilitate their first state-wide virtual family support group. Through NAMI NH I am trained in Support Group Facilitation and Suicide Prevention.

I have a BA in Business Management with a focus on Organizational Psychology from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. I am also the Chairperson on the Board of Directors for New Hampshire Family Network (NHFN) a program of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in New Hampshire (NAMI NH). I run the NHFN’s Life Under Construction social media pages and am an active volunteer.
Why do you add mental health (hope@work) to your culture work?
Having been faced with mental health challenges including anxiety and depression, I have learned first-hand the importance of leaders and managers understanding how to create psychologically safe cultures on their team. I have experienced how a lack of understanding and stigma inhibit employee potential. It is not an employer's job to solve mental health challenges, but it is their responsibility to create environments where people feel safe and empowered to seek help. I’d like to help make that a reality across businesses and universities.

Christina Itzkowitz is a Talent Management and Employee Experience (EX) practitioner with 20+ years of experience as it relates to the multi-faceted spectrum of the employee lifecycle. Her industry experience includes Pharmaceutical Retail, Healthcare, Research, Biotech & Pharmaceuticals and Real Estate Brokerage Services.
She is currently the Principal Owner of Blueprint By Design LLC, a consulting company that provides a portfolio of scalable and customizable services to meet the ever changing people/talent strategy and business demands to effectively attract, develop, and retain a high performing and high impact workforce.
Christina recently served as the Executive Director, Head of Global Talent Management for Charles River Laboratories, a life sciences company with a global footprint in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia with over 80+ locations. During her 7+ years, she engineered a scalable and agile global talent management strategy to align with the organizational talent and business strategy to accommodate the workforce growth rate of 6000 in 2013 to 18000 employees by Q1 2020.
She was responsible for the design, implementation and sustainment of new global employee programs which included a Global Onboarding Program, Leadership Development Programs for all levels (Frontline, Mid-Level, Executives and for General Managers), Talent Development, Talent Assessments, Performance Management, Succession Management, Mentoring and Coaching Programs and Recognition Programs.
She has also served in various roles for 18 years at Walgreens Boots Alliance responsible for recruitment efforts, talent development activities, performance management, quality and continuous improvement of store and pharmacy operations, designed and implemented employee trainings (ranging from technical, operational and leadership area focused), P&L and business improvement oversight and M&A integration activities.
