As a culture consultant, I am often struck by the difference between the Values on the posters on the walls of a business, and the experiences employees report to have as they come together to accomplish work. A company says it values innovation and yet employees are fearful to challenge a leader's ideas. An organization values respect, yet bullies are allowed to stay because their sales are growing. Our true values live in the way we interact at work.
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to talk about mentally healthy workplaces at this year's NAMICon in Denver Colorado with Lumentum's CHRO, Grace Lee, a leader who recognizes that healthy cultures are a key driver of business success. We equipped our session attendees to leave our time together prepared to go back and pressure test their own organizational Values to see if mentally healthy behaviors were shaping daily interactions. There was great group discussion and fantastic questions from the audience.
I've attached our brief leave-behind here but would be happy to discuss this important topic with any who are interested!
